Attorney Courtney S. Paterson
The art of persuasion and logic to win an argument is something Courtney has had her entire life. As a child, she was a picky eater and would argue with her dad about what she “had” to eat for dinner. When she was told to eat wild rice, she used that art to her advantage, telling him she would if he would eat Brussel sprouts—a food he despised as a child. She never again “had” to eat anything she did not want. The ability to use that rationale is what inspired her to pursue a law as a career.
Courtney has been an associate with Spicer Rudstrom PLLC since 2009. She is admitted to practice in all trial and appellate state courts in Tennessee, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. Courtney is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association and Lawyers Association for Women. Her major practice areas are automobile liability, insurance coverage litigation, insurance defense litigation, insurance subrogation, premises liability, products liability and workers’ compensation.
Courtney was born in Franklin, Tennessee. She is a graduate of The University of Tennessee and the Cecil C. Humphrey School of Law at the University of Memphis. If she looks familiar, it may be because she was featured in a Krystal commercial with two of her friends, who craved the restaurant’s small hamburger sliders during study sessions in the law library, and her face was on the Krystal cup while that commercial aired.
Courtney is a huge fan of college football, particularly the University of Tennessee. When she is not traveling, she can be found checking out live music in Nashville. Her favorite venue is the Ryman Auditorium, where in just a few short years, she has seen more than 40 bands.
