Attorney Brian S. Duffy
Brian S. Duffy is Of Counsel in Spicer Rudstrom’s Nashville office, where he concentrates his practice in employment and injury defense. He brings extensive experience in civil litigation, products liability, insurance defense, tort liability and civil rights litigation, as well as employment law matters. He is an active lecturer and author in trial matters and has an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Immediately prior to joining Spicer Rudstrom, Brian was a partner at McConnaughhay, Duffy, Coonrod, Pope, Weaver, Stern & Thomas PA in Tallahassee, Florida.
Brian is passionate about education, noting that education opens the doors of opportunity, and has been a serious student from the outset. Brian’s interest in the law was first kindled by an experience in college when advice from his adjunct government professor (a lawyer by day) rescued him from harassment by a collection agency. A prankster had signed Brian up for the record-of-the-month club, and he was being dunned for payments for products he had not requested. The demands abruptly stopped after Brian’s lawyer informed the record company that because Brian was younger than the age of majority (then 21), there was no enforceable contract.
He earned a J.D. degree with honors and a bachelor’s degree in engineering science, both from Florida State University, and he and his family all enjoy cheering their Seminoles in college football.
Brian and his wife (a former professor of government) share a love of history and cultural tourism and have visited many countries. They extensively research every place they visit, and enjoy living among the locals.
