Andrew N. Firkins is an experienced litigation attorney with a strong background in insurance coverage and insurance defense, with a focus in environmental, constitution, products liability and contract law. The New Jersey native is passionate about giving his clients a voice and standing up for them in a legal dispute. He is an associate in Spicer Rudstrom’s Knoxville office.
As a history major at Manhattan College, Andrew honed his research and writing skills, learning the art of developing a position and then defending it. The desire to utilize those skills, along with his passion about issues that impact every individual’s daily life, propelled him to law school.
Andrew was most recently a legal coordinator for 21st Mortgage Corporation in Knoxville, where he managed and organized documents with outside counsel through the foreclosure process for more than 140 site-built homes in several states. He also worked with customers to mitigate losses and find alternatives to foreclosure. Before relocating to Tennessee, he was an attorney with Rivkin Radler, LLP in Hackensack, N.J. There, he represented insurance carriers in claims for medical expenses stemming from automobile accidents, defended a major roofing manufacturer against breach of warranty and product liability claims and utilized motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss to eliminate liability of insurance, construction and product liability clientele. Andrew served as the assistant editor of the Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia portions of the Defense Research Institute’s Excess and Umbrella Insurance State by State Compendium: Interrelationship between Insured, Primary and Umbrella/Excess Insurers.
Andrew is a hard rock music fan who has played the guitar in a number of hard rock and indie rock bands since middle school. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two young sons, reading and attending motorsports events.
