A former journalist with a passion to give people an opportunity to be heard, David L. Barry now puts that earnestness to work for clients with legal needs. David’s burgeoning career as an attorney focuses on civil rights litigation, family and domestic law and property and casualty litigation, among others. He is an associate in Spicer Rudstrom’s Chattanooga office.
David graduated from the Nashville School of Law, where he ranked second in his class and was accepted into Cooper’s Inn, an honor bestowed on the top 10 percent of each class. His passion for giving voice to others began when he worked for several years as a journalist in both print and multimedia/video platforms. His online video coverage of tornadoes that hit West Tennessee in 2008 garnered him a first-place award from the Associated Press. The son of a lawyer, David has always had an interest in the legal field. He was taught at an early age about the importance of justice and the right of every American to have an opportunity to redress wrongs done to them. Renewing that interest, David decided to leave journalism behind and pursue a career as an attorney. Now, instead of giving voice to people within the columns of a newspaper or the lens of a video camera, he gives his clients that voice in a court of law.
The Chattanooga, Tenn. native is also an avid hiker, hunter and fisherman. He enjoys playing a round of Frisbee golf and watching baseball, as well as both college and professional football. His favorite teams include the Atlanta Braves, University of Alabama football, the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons. He and his wife, Regina, are expecting their first child in early summer.
